Application Requirements and Evaluation

Important Notes Regarding Applications

  • Applicants who graduated from a university abroad must have a GPA calculated on a 4.00 or 100-point scale on their transcript. GPA calculation is not carried out by our University.
  • For Turkish citizen applicants applying to the Master’s Program with Thesis, the ALES Equal Weight score will be taken into consideration. ALES/GRE/GMAT scores are valid for 5 years from the date of announcement of the results.
  • ALES is not required for international applicants.
  • Turkish citizen applicants must meet the foreign language requirement. Scores obtained from YDS, e-YDS, YÖKDİL, e-YÖKDİL, or international foreign language exams recognized as equivalent by the ÖSYM Executive Board are accepted.
  • YDS, e-YDS, YÖKDİL, and e-YÖKDİL scores are valid for 5 years from the date of the exam. For equivalent foreign language exams, if no validity period is stated on the document, the document is considered valid for 5 years. TOEFL and PTE Academic scores are valid for 2 years.
  • International applicants are not required to submit a foreign language score.
  • Applicants are required to attend the written scientific examination and interview announced by the relevant Department. Applicants who do not attend the written scientific examination or interview will not be included in the admission evaluation. No excuses will be accepted in this regard.
  • The interview will be held face-to-face. The date, time, and location of the written scientific examination and interview will be announced on the Institute website.
  • Applicants to be invited for the interview will be determined by the relevant jury following a preliminary evaluation based on ALES score, undergraduate GPA, written scientific examination / professional knowledge assessment, and other criteria determined by the Senate. The number of applicants to be invited for the interview will be twice the program quota.
  • Applicants who are citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus may apply under the quotas allocated for Turkish citizens. However, they must meet the ALES requirement specified for the relevant program.
  • Blue Card holders may apply under only one nationality status.
  • Application documents will be checked and approved by the Institute staff. Therefore, applicants are responsible for uploading all documents completely, legibly, and validly during the application process.

General Application Requirements

  1. Applicants to the Master’s Program with Thesis must hold a bachelor’s degree or be in a position to graduate by the final registration date.
  2. There is no field restriction for applications to the program.
  3. Applicants must have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.50 out of 4.00. Applicants who are in the process of graduating must have a current GPA of at least 2.50 at the time of application.
  4. Turkish citizen applicants must have a minimum ALES Equal Weight score of 70.
  5. Turkish citizen applicants must meet the foreign language requirement. Accepted minimum foreign language scores are as follows:
  • YDS: Minimum 75
  • TOEFL iBT: Minimum 80
  • PTE Academic: Minimum 70

 

Required Application Documents

Applicants are required to submit the following documents during the application process:

  1. Bachelor’s diploma or graduation certificate
  2. For applicants who are in the process of graduating, a document showing student status / expected graduation status
  3. Undergraduate transcript
  4. ALES score report, only for Turkish citizen applicants
  5. Foreign language score report, only for Turkish citizen applicants
  6. Statement of purpose
  7. Curriculum vitae / CV
  8. Reference letter
  • Submission of at least 1 reference letter is mandatory.
  • Submission of 2 reference letters is preferred.

 

Evaluation of Turkish Citizen Applicants

  • The admission evaluation of Turkish citizen applicants is based on the ALES Equal Weight score, undergraduate GPA, written scientific examination score, and interview score.
  • In the calculation of the final admission score, 50% of the ALES Equal Weight score, 20% of the undergraduate GPA, 20% of the written scientific examination / professional knowledge assessment score, and 10% of the interview score will be taken into consideration.
  • Applicants are required to attend the written scientific examination and the face-to-face interview. Applicants who do not attend the written scientific examination or interview will not be evaluated. No excuses will be accepted.
  • The final ranking will be determined based on applicants’ calculated final admission scores. The registration procedures of successful applicants will be carried out in accordance with the calendar and procedures announced by the Institute.

 

Evaluation of International Applicants

  • The admission evaluation of international applicants is based on undergraduate GPA, written scientific examination score, and interview score. International applicants are not required to submit an ALES score or a foreign language score.
  • In the calculation of the final admission score, 30% of the undergraduate GPA, 40% of the written scientific examination / professional knowledge assessment score, and 30% of the interview score will be taken into consideration.
  • International applicants are also required to attend the written scientific examination and the face-to-face interview. Applicants who do not attend the written scientific examination or interview will not be evaluated. No excuses will be accepted.
  • The final ranking will be determined based on applicants’ calculated final admission scores. The registration procedures of successful applicants will be carried out in accordance with the calendar and procedures announced by the Institute.

 

Written Scientific Examination and Interview

  • Applicants to the program are required to attend the written scientific examination to be held on the announced dates.
  • The interview will be held face-to-face.
  • The dates, location, and time of the written scientific examination and interview will be announced separately on the Institute website.
  • Applicants who do not attend the written scientific examination or interview will not be evaluated.
  • No excuses will be accepted for non-attendance at the examination or interview.

 

Registration Process for Substitute Candidates

  • Following the evaluation, applicants will be ranked from the highest to the lowest final admission score. Applicants up to the announced quota will be placed on the main list, while other successful applicants will be placed on the substitute list.
  • If applicants on the main list do not complete their final registration within the announced registration dates, vacant quotas will be announced. Substitute candidates will be required to submit a pre-registration petition on the dates announced by the Institute. Substitute candidates who do not submit a pre-registration petition will not be entitled to register, even if their admission score is high.
  • Substitute candidates who submit a pre-registration petition will be ranked from the highest to the lowest admission score, and candidates up to the number of vacant quotas will be entitled to final registration. Substitute candidates who are entitled to final registration must apply to the Institute and complete their registration procedures on the announced dates.
