Social Movements, Organized Struggles, and the Digital Analysis of Actions

Social Movements, Organized Struggles, and the Digital Analysis of Actions

This project, led by Dr. Fuat Kına, aims to develop an original panel dataset in the field of social movements. By utilizing social media data and applying automated event coding through large language models, the project will comprehensively map not only protest actions but also social movement organizations across temporal and spatial dimensions. The dataset will include multilayered parameters such as the nature of actions, ideological orientations, demands, and targets. In doing so, the project will not only contribute to the empirical study of social movements but also offer new research opportunities to analyze the dynamics, actors, and organizational forms of collective struggles in the digital age.
