Parenting Attitudes and Behaviors of Syrians Under Temporary Protection and Influencing Factors

The project, which began in June 2025, will run for two years. It aims to better understand the child-rearing attitudes and experiences of Syrian parents living under temporary protection status in Turkey. The study addresses the parents' strengths as well as the challenges they face, examining the individual, familial, and societal factors that shape their daily lives and their relationships with their children.

Within the scope of the research, interviews are being conducted with both mothers and fathers, surveys are being administered, and focus group discussions are being held. In this way, light is shed on the parenting processes of Syrian families within a broad framework that ranges from intra-familial relationships and neighborhood and school experiences to social perceptions and social policies.

The goal of the project is to use the information obtained to develop social service models and policy recommendations aimed at enhancing the well-being of both children and families. The findings will be shared with public institutions, non-governmental organizations, and academic circles, contributing to efforts to help children grow up in safer and more supportive environments. The project is being conducted in collaboration with the Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) and the Refugees Association (Mülteciler Derneği).
